Love At 16

Everyone tells you that you will not know what love is until you are older, but that is not true. I first met the girl that was going to be my first love in the 5th grade. We went out for a couple of months but nothing too serious. after the year we didn't have any contact until our 8th grade year. We had a few classes but never really talked.

During our spring break about 40 of the 8th graders went to Washington D.C. to tour the capital. While on the trip we sat in the back of the charter and talked a little and really got to know eachother again.

When we got back to school we still didnt talk that often and the school was getting ready to have the Eigth Grade Banquet at the end of the year. There was a few girls that I wanted to take but when I say here the day i was going to ask someone that changed everything. She was so beautiful and I couldnt inagine going to the banquet with anyone else.

After the Banquet part we all went to the dance afterwards. During one of the slow songe I asked her if she would go out with me and she said yes. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal then because it was just a crush.

When we went back to school the following monday she told me that she was going to move to a town just north of where we lived, but she was going to come down and visit often. I thought that mabye we could just stay together and see where the summer would take us.

When I got back from Oklahoma I sat around the house a few days before I got to talk to her. She cam down about every other weekend till Thanksgiving. Somehow by some mysterious way we actually talked her grandparents into letting me say up there the weekend after Thanksgiving. I felt kinda out of place being up there with all her family, they were asking me questions and just made me feel uncomfortable. All the questions finally stopped after a day and we finally got to spend some time together.

One night I took her to the country where I had set up a blanket and a little picnic earlier that day. Since that weekend was our 6th month anniversary i thought we could spent half the night out there looking at the stars. After the picnic we layed on the blanket and I held her in my arms as we looked at the stars and watched for shooting stars. At that moment I knew that I loved her. We have been together since then and this Thanksgiving will be a year and 6 months and I have never felt what I feel for her for anybody. I love her!
